Precision installation for a cutting-edge research facility
Biomedical Research Building
Working in collaboration with JP Concrete, we were brought in to install a suite of bespoke modular seating units and a precast staircase for the new Interdisciplinary Biomedical Research Building at the University of Warwick. This state-of-the-art facility, designed to house up to 300 researchers with a 400-seat lecture theatre, required a smart, efficient approach to accommodate the unique structural and logistical challenges of an active university campus.
In total, we installed 48 outdoor seating units around the building’s perimeter and a custom precast staircase for the entrance hall.

Weeks from design to final installation
With the campus operating as a live environment, minimising disruption was essential. We coordinated each phase to fit around daily campus activity, ensuring our work was done with minimal impact on the bustling university grounds.
The staircase installation required particular finesse. Due to weight restrictions on a suspended slab, a lighter unit was designed and a bespoke support frame was added for stability. Using a special excavator, we positioned the staircase in one smooth movement, protecting the surrounding Rekli walls from any potential damage.
Our efficient installation approach brought significant time savings to the project. The prefabricated units arrived ready to install, allowing us to bypass on-site curing time and cut the overall installation time in half. In just 8 weeks, the entire project was completed, with a robust setup that served the building’s high-spec requirements.
