Glencar was appointed by Peel Ports to construct a 240,000 sq ft multi-user warehouse in Alexandra Dock in Liverpool.
The new £28m warehouse is over 400m long – equivalent to four football pitches and will need to withstand high winds and rain due to its exposed location in the Liverpool docks.
Our role was to provide full service – design, manufacture and installation for the precast retaining wall elements in the project.

Due to the building’s proximity to the river Mersey, the precast retaining walls were designed for exposure class XS3 – corrosion induced by chlorides from seawater, upper tidal zones, and splash and spray zones.
The units were manufactured using a CEMIII/A concrete mix, which enabled us to reduce the carbon footprint of the units and increase the durability of the retaining walls.
Once installed, the joints between the units are mastic sealed inside and out to make them weatherproof.
